I am a huge fan of LINKIN PARK. Their music and the lyrics in many ways resonates with me mentally and spiritually. I can feel the angst and anxiety in most of their songs, a reflection of my often troubled state of being.
Their last three albums dealt with chaos and unrest of a world on brink of destruction. In the album “A Thousand Suns” prominently features the threat of a nuclear holocaust. This particular piece based on the first track in that album “Requiem” you would hear an eerie voice chanting over the haunting goth like techno music:
God save us everyone
When we burn inside the fires of a thousand suns
For the sins of our hand, the sins of our tongue
The sins of our father, the sins of our young, no
It sounds like a prayer of remorse and regret for man’s greed and pride that had brought about the destruction, but what good is regret when he’s gone too far to turn back, to undo the damages he has done…
I know it seems weird posting about this just on the eve of a New Year. But let’s rest assured we will live to see another year of more productivity. After all look what happened with 2012.
Happy New Years everyone! May your dreams come true!
P.S. I will be on break for the rest of this week to slowly soak in the reality of another year forward and to make some resolutions that I hopefully can keep. So see you next week with new work.
