Yesterday I was quite shocked to hear the news of the sudden passing of Chester Bennington, the lead vocal for the rock band Linkin Park.
I had been a big fan of the group since their debut single “In the End” aired and led me to buy their first album HYBRID THEORY. To date I own seven of their albums and appreciated their artistic visions imbued in each one. Their music is also fundamental in my artistic endeavors and I have even quite a few artwork solely inspired by them (and it won’t be the last of course). Chester’s sharp, raspy voice was instantly recognizable even when he had been featured in another band’s single, and is always ponder if the guy ever gets throat problems, in particular the single “Given Up” where he screams for good 20 seconds (yes I counted. Lol) I believe he truly gave the band its identity, and I don’t know how they will replace him. But no matter who takes up the now vacant seat Linkin Park will live on and continue to be enjoyed by fans old and new.
I will close this post with a clip of one of my all time favorite songs, the one that hits closest to my heart and where Ches’ vocal really shines brightest:
Rest in Peace Chester. You’ll always have a place in our hearts.
