17 For this reason he had to be made like them,[a] fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. 18 Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
The suffering and miseries of humans in this world is immeasurable. People dying of hunger, pestilences, and oppressions; lives destroyed by human greed and wrath. Many of us can’t help but question “where is God in all this?” Enemies and non believers scoff at us for putting our trust in what they do not believe or refuse to believe, which further shakes our already fragile stance on the existence of God Almighty and our faith.
But as the Bible verse states, Jesus knows our sufferings. And he understands them perfectly, because he had been through the suffering himself. And this way he can bring us closer to him and his Father and console us with his great Love. And we the believers can rest assured in that fact, and stand fast under any circumstances.
