Don’t try to climb higher than you can really handle- that is the message behind this cautionary Greek tale about a boy who fashions himself a pair of wings and then attempts to fly up into Mt. Olympus, the home of the gods. Unfortunately the sun melts off the wax that held the feathers and poor Icarus falls down hard. There are about a zillion ways to interpret this tale but the meaning is all very fundamental: do not go beyond your limitations.
